Nobody really knows what causes Thread Veins (also known as Spider Veins). It is often assumed to be linked to overexposure to the sun.​ Thread Veins are often seen on the face, hands and legs, are appear like thin, red lines often in a "spider web" pattern.

Like other IPL tretaments, the light is focused on the target area, in this case the thin red veins. The IPL light heats and damages the vein walls causing the veins to break down and diminish. The area treated should be improved quite markedly with repeat treatments.

As with all IPL treatments care must be taken with aftercare and direct sun-exposure avoided for a few weeks after treatment.
