FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is Laser and IPL Treatment Safe?

Nowadays cosmetic laser and IPL treatments are safe to have done, provided you are treated by fully qualified specialists, who will give you the correct guidance for your care, before, during and after your treatment.

Nu Skin are proud to say that Fiona has passed her VTCT Level IV qualification in Laser and Light Treatment, and you should check to ensure your treatment is carried out by a similarly qualified practitioner should you decide to use an alternative provider.

Both Philip and Fiona have passed certified training for tattoo removal conducted by our equipment manufacturer AW3. In addition Philip has an HTec qualification in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement from NESCOT, Ewell.

Does the Treatment Hurt?

Most people say that, at worse, the sensation is like getting flicked by an elastic band. In fact most people report that they do not experience any pain at all.

Some parts of the body are a little more sensitive than others so this is also a factor. We take great care not to cause you discomfort during your treatments. Cooling ice packs are often used to help relieve your skin.

Are There any Precautions that I Need to Take?

Any treatment area should be protected from direct sunlight both before and after treatment. We will advise you on appropriate skin care following your treatment. However this is your own responsibility, and Nu Skin cannot be held responsible if you ignore our advice.

We will ask about any medication that you are taking and if you have any conditions that are contra-indicated. If you have any doubt please ask your GP before making your appointment for treatment. Pregnant ladies should not be treated.

What about Sunbathing or Tanning?

Please avoid sunbathing, tanning or spray tanning for 30 days prior to and at least 30 days after treatments. If your skin is tanned either naturally or otherwise, then you will have an altered level of melanin in your skin.

Laser and IPL are treatments that are sensitive to melanin in the skin and to avoid possible hyper- or hypo- pigmentation issues following treatment you must take this advice seriously. We will advise you and ask you to sign a document stating that you understand this important point.

Why do you Recommend Repeated Treatments?

All treatments will require a number of repeat visits to achieve the results that are wanted.

We are able to usually see improvements after just one or two sessions but due to the way the body works we normally suggest a minimum of 6 sessions are required. We do offer a discounted rate when booking a course of 6 sessions. For a number of treatments regular single "top-up" sessions will be required.

For tattoo removal repeated sessions are also required to remove all the ink from the tattoo. We alter the treatment settings during your course of treatments to ensure success.

What Payment Types do You Take?

We are able to take all common credit or debit cards, ApplePay or AndroidPay as well as good old fashioned cash.

We also sell vouchers which can be gifted and then used to pay for any treatment that is required.

I Have Seen Cheaper Prices for Similar Treatments Advertised Elsewhere, Why Should I Not Go To Them?

Well, remember the old saying, you get what you pay for!

It is possible to purchase a "tattoo removal laser machine" from eBay at a very low price, and start offering a service. These are usually made in China and are next to impossible to service or obtain parts for. They may not be CE marked to be legally usable in Europe. However, please, please also check the credentials of the person or salon offering your treatment.

1. Ask to see their specific treatment insurance.

2. Ask to see their training certificates.

3. Ask to see their Laser Protection Advisor's certification ("local rules")

4. Ask to see their service record from the manufacturer - required yearly.

5. And finally check to see their equipment is CE marked and ask the clinic about this. A good practice will understand what this is, a poor one will not or will bluff.

If they will not show you these then should you trust them with looking after your treatments?

We will happily share all of this information with our clients. Our equipment is fully CE marked and purchased from AW3, one of the largest world-wide suppliers.
